Pretoria, 4 December 2019. The Voortrekker Monument’s annual Day of the Covenant church service takes place inside the Monument. This year and exciting new book will be introduced after the service in the art gallery. The book is by Professors Elizabeth Rankin (New Zeeland) and Rolf Schneider (Germany) and is titled From Memory to Marble: the historical frieze of the Voortrekker Monument.
The main gate and the northern gate of the Monument Restaurant will be open from 06:30 to expedite entry to the site. The service will be broadcast via live streaming on the website: www.vtm.org.za.
The service and the sun shining on the Cenotaph will be projected on large screens in the Hall of Heroes. Guests should be aware that because of the architectural design of the Monument, the quality of sound projection is better in the Cenotaph Hall than in the Hall of Heroes.
