Funda Discovery Centre

Funda Discovery Centre

The Funda Discovery Centre focusses on syllabus based school programmes by means of self discovery and study according to outcomes based education. Spesific syllabus themes are presented by means of an introduction, a treasure hunt (also for home schooling), followed by interactive discussions. Althought school groups are the main target, the Funda can also be utilized for a variety of educational workshops and other enrichment courses. It consists out of three main areas: the auditorium, the foyer and the main exhibition hall with the open air traditional activities.

In the auditorium provision is made for visual and interactive introductions per study plan theme, while a map of the treasure hunt with specific themes is available in the main exhibition hall. Here, original items, repilcas, historical photos and contemporary material are used for information. The origin and cultural diversity of South Africa is explained in broad terms by means of national symbols, historical photos, food, clothing, settlements and materials (wood, metal, leather, grass, clay, caramics and glass).
