During the Festival of the Vow (8-16 December) the Voortrekker Monument closes at 22:00.
The Monument will be closed between 23 and 25 December, and also between 30 December and 1 January 2024.
The Monument will also be closed annually on Good Friday.

Can school groups visit the Voortrekker Monument and what are the costs?
Yes, the Voortrekker Monument welcomes school groups on a regular basis. The Historical Trek-Route Garden and Pioneer Centre are always popular points of interest. Follow the link to make a booking.

May the Stone Chapel be used for a memorial or funeral service if I have reserved a niche in the Voortrekker Monument’s Memorial Garden?
The use of the Stone Chapel is subject to the type of package you have booked. Please send an e-mail to Roelien Fourie at roelien@kultuurtuiste.org.za
Are professional photoshoots allowed on the Voortrekker Monument site?
The Voortrekker Monument currently offers four photography packages from which professional photographers can choose. These photo sessions must be booked in advance by sending an email to besprekings@kultuurtuiste.org.za. NO professional photo sessions are allowed inside the monument. Photoshoots are only allowed on the terrain outside the monument.
Are drones allowed on site at the Voortrekker Monument?
Under no circumstances may drones be flown on site without prior permission.



INFORMATION, RULES AND REGULATIONS
- Upon arrival, visitors must please use the main entrance and then report to Reception.
- Please do not cause any disturbance to others.
- Please be on the lookout for cyclists, hikers and joggers.
- No on-site trading is allowed without prior permission.
- Obey all traffic signs; remember that all pedestrians and animals have right of way.
- Only persons in possession of a legal driver’s license may drive in the reserve.
- No animal, plant or bird may be fed, disturbed or removed.
- Remember that uncontrolled fires cause destruction and death. Therefore, please be responsible when handling, for example, braai fires or cigarettes.
- No pets are allowed on site, but guide dogs are welcome.
- Littering is strictly prohibited.
If there are any farmers who are interested in donating game to the reserve, please feel free to contact the monument.
