Why does the monument need donations?
In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Voortrekker Monument has been placed under immense financial pressure with the tourism industry forced to its knees. The Voortrekker Monument is a heritage conservation site that does not receive a penny from the government. We therefore depend on our own people to enable us to preserve and develop our rich culture and heritage, and to keep our doors open to the public as a world-class tourist attraction.
How is the money used?
Money donated to the monument is used to maintain all the attractions, activities and facilities on site, and launch new projects that contribute to the preservation and development of our wonderful cultural heritage.
